Objectives
- Identify an MRI fault.
- Know how to rule out a sequence-setup problem.
- Know the means used to repair.
Operational objectives
- Master MRI safety (right tools and clothing, signage).
- Know the main components of an MRI (B0, RF, gradients, coils, Faraday cage…).
- Understand the electrical installation, the filter panel and the emergency stops (electrical, quench, table).
- Know the possible faults for each component.
- Understand the cooling circuit and analyse possible causes of malfunction.
- Identify artefacts linked to patients, poor sequence programming, humidity, RF, gradient or coil failure, poor contacts or Faraday cage leaks, and stray frequencies.
- Identify and locate the fault; check image quality on phantoms; use service-mode measurements and tests.
- Master the IT installation (PACS network, RIS, post-processing console, DICOM…).
Target audience
MRI maintenance staff (medical electroradiology technicians and biomedical technicians).
Prerequisites
At least one year of MRI experience and command of French.
